Tubmill Creek Farms is a family-owned business and the culmination of a life-long dream.

Ever since days long ago when my wife, Kitty, and I raised cattle on my grandfather's farm, I harbored a keen ambition to become a cattleman. Life, however, took us in a different direction---not to fields and farms but to the mills and office towers of the United States Steel Corporation, from which I retired as Chief Operating Officer. In anticipation of beginning a second career, Kitty and I purchased Tubmill Creek Farms in 2004 and the ambition I had harbored for over forty years became a reality.

Located in the Laurel Highlands region of Southwestern Pennsylvania, Tubmill Creek Farm's property has a long and rich agricultural history tracing back to the pre-Colonial period and William Penn, from whom the Keystone State takes its name. We purchased the farm from Gerald and Helen Hood Swatsworth. Helen's family, who came to America from Ireland in 1856, bought the farm in 1885. Interestingly, the Swatsworths were Limousin breeders for 22 years prior to our purchase.

Since our purchase of Tubmill Creek Farm, Kitty and I have worked hard to expand and improve the farm's operations and facilities, and to build a Limousin breeding program populated with genetically superior livestock. In March of 2007, we were fortunate to acquire the entire breeding herd from Larry Simmons Farms, and in that same year held our first annual sale, The Crossing. Our hard work and that of our farm staff has paid off, with Tubmill Creek Farms now among the elite Limousin breeders in the nation.

At Tubmill Creek Farms, we hold an abiding regard for breeders and are proud to be a part of this great profession. The bedrock of our 700-acre farm is family, and our desire to sustain the tradition of independent agricultural operations that is a vital part of our nation's economy and well-being.

Sincerely,
